ICT integrated lesson on clothes

ICT integrated  lesson on clothes

This time the lesson I taught was on different types of clothes. I was teaching grade one, English. I have presented the lesson through power point to my students. Lessons sometimes presented through projector actually bring enticement to learners. Teachers work load is reduced immensely and students remain more focused. Since my previous lesson through power point went well, I came up with this lesson. If we do it frequently, children don’t enjoy much, but in my school we have only projector and we hardly get enough chance to use it frequently. To teach about our national dress was easy as children wear it themselves. The problem was with other western clothes. There was no other alternative option than to take another chance integrating ICT to my lesson. Once I thought of bringing different types of clothes to class to give them hands- on activity but found more disadvantages on doing it. Therefore, the best option to have an effective lesson was to get the sources from the internet. I googled it and got about twenty five different pictures of clothes worn by the westerners. I showed it on my projector during my lesson. I found out children knew it much better, even the slow learner and low achiever, they could remember it well. I was satisfied with my lesson that day. Now, I have started believing that integrating ICT to make our lesson effective.

Report on Integrating ICT in my Lesson for third blog

Report on Integrating ICT in my Lesson for third blog

This time my ICT integrated lesson was social studies in class V.  So, for this my topic was Monasteries and Temples. I wanted my students to get information from the internet because the text has only few important dzongs and monasteries reflected. Students were divided into groups and given different tasks.

I used internet facility in my school to let students find more information about the importance of monasteries and dzongs from the website that I provided them. They were asked to just take 30 minutes to browse the net and jot down important points so that they can share it in the class. Once they were back to the class, a member from each group was asked to report their findings to the whole class. As a follow up activity, I presented some important points in power point.

No one learns in the same way because of different learning styles and abilities. Technology provides great opportunities for making learning more effective for everyone with different needs. Likewise, I have a student who doesn’t perform well in studies; I noticed that he was doing quite well while working with finding information from the internet. That’s why I felt, access to the internet gives students access to a broad range of resources. When students were divided into groups and assigned task, they practice collaboration skills by getting involved in different online activities.
The only drawback that I encountered was that students trailed off sometimes from the given task. If the teacher is not very vigilant, there is a chance of students not getting the correct information, they might browse the wrong website and get wrong information. Time management and giving clear instruction is very important while carrying out any activity. Since I have only 21 students in my class, I didn’t face much problem while in the IT lab. The activity instructions were made clear in the class only. Except for some behavioral problems, I feel the lesson went well. I could see that students enjoyed more when they were given an opportunity to browse the net and find out information on their own. It’s good for the students as they get hands on experience with the technology.
