The use of ICT for October month second Block

The use of ICT for October month second Block
Class: IV
Subject: Mathematics
Topic: Equivalent Fractions
On 17th October, 2019, my lesson was on “equivalent fraction” for class IV mathematics with the integration of ICT for duration of 45 minutes. I began the lesson by revising the previous lesson and then made a link to the actual topic.
For instance:
1.      What is equivalent fraction?
2.      List two equivalent fraction of 2/8?
Then I gave the instructions and demonstrated on how to go about the activity on PowerPoint presentation. After that I had divided my children into four groups of five members and assigned them to prepare a PowerPoint presentation on equivalent fractions.  By making the children to sit in their respective group, I asked them to solve and prepare PowerPoint presentation on the following questions.
1.      Write the definition of the equivalent fraction.
2.      Find four equivalent fractions of 24/30
3.      Name the fractions in each pair. Tell whether or not the fractions are equivalent.

The children were asked to present their PowerPoint presentation in groups. It was really successful one. Students could learn the equivalent fraction so fast which otherwise would have taken me weeks to teach manually. The quality of their presentation really proved that ICT helps not only the adult learners but also it has great impact on our young learners if given chance. This is one way that we could motivate our learners to take interest in learning.

Therefore, I could conclude that our 21st century learners can really explore and get information on the given topic.
One drawback that I had come across was children had some challenges in inserting animations and finding the appropriate topic. However, rest of the lesson went well as planned.

ICT integrated in mathematics class

ICT integrated in mathematics class
This time I taught mathematics for class V students with the help of ICT. I have asked the question of how many types of fractions are there, and then how to change the improper fraction into mixed numbers and vice versa. Thus for effective delivery and in the interest of time I have taught how to browse goggle and to find the video tutorial. I have shown the video tutorial on types of fractions. It was also reminded that it can be played and paused any time. Children were so interested to learn.
Next I have provided them with the laptop in groups and asked to browse goggle and go to the video tutorial; student followed the instructions and participated fully in the activity. All the students they did very well.
However, there were few challenges that for some I have to show video tutorial steps for several times. ICT integrated lesson has fully replaced the traditional teaching strategies and kept ourselves fully equipped that contributed significantly towards the teaching learning processes.
ICT integrated lesson (video tutorial) allows students to learn from each other and gain important interpersonal skills.

It broadens the learners’ capacity, helps to develop their curiosity over learning and actively participates in learning. It helps them to explore their innate capacities relating with the confronting task, learning by doing and taking decisions and able to get well socialized with the rest of the members. It provides children with an avenue to express their views, think, share, reason out and respect others views to come to the consent.
The role of teacher here as a facilitator, guide, supervisor and director is very vital and crucial in promoting and in encouraging it as children at this stage need tremendous guidance.
