Teaching names of fruits and vegetables using technology
This time I am going to
share about my lesson. The lesson was on vegetables and fruits for class I. We
being in the border area it were much easier for me to teach the particular
topic. Many of the fruits and vegetables are already seen and tasted by my
students. My students know a lot of names of fruits and vegetables. They have
already learnt through the surroundings they are living. Although it was easier
for me to talk about the topic but not all of them are privileged to receive
such opportunities.
Teaching names of all
the fruits and vegetables are not possible because of their adaptive
characteristics and habitats. Some fruits and vegetables grow in cold places
while others in hot places. So, in such situation use of ICT plays an important
role to teach the concept of the topic.
Thinking of the under
privilege children and keeping them in mind then I thought of integrating ICT
in my lesson. I down loaded the moves and pictures from the net and showed
them. After that I could teach them many new names with real pictures. Some of
the fruits and vegetables are hardly seen by the children. So they got opportunity
to explore many fruits and vegetables.
I showed it on my
laptop during my lesson. I found out even the low achiever could catch up very
well. I was fully satisfied with my lesson that day. Now I fully believed that
by integrating ICT do make the lesson very effective and successful one. Thank

You did a great job by down loading the pictures and movies...however to give the clear and precise points it would have been better it you have used projector. I hope you would certainly use in your next lesson
ReplyDeleteIt's nice teaching with the downloaded pictures which looks attractive as well as far more better than our hand made teaching materials. But it would have been better with projector if there is in your school.
ReplyDeleteWell done job. You have used laptop for presentation. What would be if you teach fruits and vegetables separately because class one students will find difficult to recognise and naming.

ReplyDeleteIt is very true that we as a teacher need to cater equal opportunities to all students in the class. So I am impressed with your noble thoughts that at least you thought about the under privileged children. However, it would have been better if you have used projector to teach.

ReplyDeleteI also.have the experience of teaching such lesson like children may not have seen few of the vegetables that are not available in this vegetation so the best thing is to teach the children such topics through ICT.

Intergration of ict in classroom teaching leads to more developmental and appropriate way of learning. Even low achiever could catch up the learning through visually.

ReplyDeleteYou have used laptop to show some pictures to your students. It is a great way to give them the clear picture. I would suggest if you zoom the picture and show them.That would give them a bigger picture. All the best!
