ICT integrated lesson on clothes
This
time the lesson I taught was on different types of clothes. I was teaching
grade one, English. I have presented the lesson through power point to my
students. Lessons sometimes presented through projector actually bring
enticement to learners. Teachers work load is reduced immensely and students
remain more focused. Since my previous lesson through power point went well, I
came up with this lesson. If we do it frequently, children don’t enjoy much,
but in my school we have only projector and we hardly get enough chance to use
it frequently. To teach about our national dress was easy as children wear it
themselves. The problem was with other western clothes. There was no other
alternative option than to take another chance integrating ICT to my lesson.
Once I thought of bringing different types of clothes to class to give them
hands- on activity but found more disadvantages on doing it. Therefore, the
best option to have an effective lesson was to get the sources from the
internet. I googled it and got about twenty five different pictures of clothes
worn by the westerners. I showed it on my projector during my lesson. I found
out children knew it much better, even the slow learner and low achiever, they
could remember it well. I was satisfied with my lesson that day. Now, I have
started believing that integrating ICT to make our lesson effective.

Powerpoint presentation has got the power of making the teaching learning process in a unique way. By using it, your children would have got the newly and updated names of different cloths. Keep it and keep using it.
ReplyDeleteYou have come up with good idea of integrating ICT in your lesson and found your children have learnt a lot through such presentation. You have rightly pointed out that integrating of ICT in lesson have lot of benefits. Please, keep it up and explore more ideas in future too.
ReplyDeleteIt is powerful tool to project visuals which otherwise would be difficult to get real objects. We can design lesson associated with animations, image, audio, transitional effects, etc., which can make to convey the intended messages to the learners.
ReplyDeleteI'm confident enough that your lesson on clothes using ICT facility has provided encouragement to students.
ReplyDeleteI am happy because I could learn some name of clothes from your presentation. It's good deal with different strategies to make our children learn better with opportunities. I suggest you to focusfocus more on our culture rather than focusing on others culture. Our children are young and we need to provide values to our children so that they will prepare for adulthood.
ReplyDeleteI am very sure that your children might have learnt a lot on clothes through ict. Keep using ict.
ReplyDeleteIt was a opoortunity for me to learn the names of clothes. Children might have learned a lot. However, you were teaching grade one children, I felt you could have taught the names of our clothes. There are so many things that they should know about our dress. That is my feeling la.
ReplyDeleteI m too confident that your children enjoyed learning names of clothes and has provided encouragement.
ReplyDeleteI have enjoyed your lesson thoroughly as you have used appropriate ict tool.
ReplyDeleteTeaching through power point has been very effective these days. It saves time and resources in the class and rather we teachers are able to explain more to children with more examples.
ReplyDeleteHowever it becomes less effective in case if we fail to present on right information or in line with the topic. Your teaching was in class I and you need to keep in mind the stnadard. From your write up I have seen more numbers of clothes....I doubt whether your children will be able to grasp all the information or not.
Use of PowerPoint is also very interesting.keep it up
ReplyDeleteUse of PowerPoint is also very interesting and effective also.I learnt the names of clothes and children might have learned a lot. I felt there are so many things that they should know about our dress. Keep it up.
ReplyDeleteYour lesson must have given an opportunity for the children to see and find that there are many dresses that they may have never seen mam.
ReplyDeleteGreat job.
The use of colourful pictures is always helpful to teach children. children might have enjoyed.
ReplyDeleteTeaching through power point not only saves our time but makes our teaching and learning more effective and fruitful.
ReplyDeleteHaving lots of teaching resources in the class, teachers will be able to explain more to children with more and relevant examples supporting the content what we are teaching about.
Great lesson ...
