Report
on Integrating ICT in my Lesson for third blog
This time my ICT integrated
lesson was social studies in class V.
So, for this my topic was Monasteries and Temples. I wanted my students
to get information from the internet because the text has only few important
dzongs and monasteries reflected. Students were divided into groups and given
different tasks.
I used internet facility in my
school to let students find more information about the importance of
monasteries and dzongs from the website that I provided them. They were asked
to just take 30 minutes to browse the net and jot down important points so that
they can share it in the class. Once they were back to the class, a member from
each group was asked to report their findings to the whole class. As a follow
up activity, I presented some important points in power point.
No one learns in the same way
because of different learning styles and abilities. Technology provides great
opportunities for making learning more effective for everyone with different
needs. Likewise, I have a student who doesn’t perform well in studies; I
noticed that he was doing quite well while working with finding information
from the internet. That’s why I felt, access to the internet gives students
access to a broad range of resources. When students were divided into groups
and assigned task, they practice collaboration skills by getting involved in
different online activities.
The only drawback that I
encountered was that students trailed off sometimes from the given task. If the
teacher is not very vigilant, there is a chance of students not getting the
correct information, they might browse the wrong website and get wrong
information. Time management and giving clear instruction is very important
while carrying out any activity. Since I have only 21 students in my class, I
didn’t face much problem while in the IT lab. The activity instructions were
made clear in the class only. Except for some behavioral problems, I feel the
lesson went well. I could see that students enjoyed more when they were given
an opportunity to browse the net and find out information on their own. It’s
good for the students as they get hands on experience with the technology.

The shift of methods of teaching from book to using ICT has great impact to the students and the teachers. As stated in your reflection, the child which does not perform well in your class also does good means he learned and got interest in your teaching.
ReplyDeleteSo keep going and now the topic which they learned will always with them because it's the information that is beyond the text book. You did a wonderful job.
You have integrated ict skills fully to learn more. It is wonderful lesson
ReplyDeleteYou have integrated ict skills fully to learn more. It is wonderful lesson
ReplyDeleteWell planned lesson mam.Keep it up la.
ReplyDeleteYou have used internet for finding the pictures of monasteries and temples. Before that I think you need to instruct the children about webpage of finding the pictures. You could also tell them how to download the images so that they save it and use for future reference la.
ReplyDeleteI am pleased to go through your post in the blog. I understood that the content in the text book is limited to few informations. I know you wanted your students to get more information about your topic. Congratulation for allowing students to explore the internet ...keep going madam
ReplyDeleteWow! It's great work madam. You have integrated ICT skills fully to make your children learn more. It is wonderful lesson. Keep it up.
ReplyDeleteWith regards.
Nice to see you teaching Social Studies using ICT as your children got opportunity to Louise the information by themselves.
ReplyDeleteYes, this can be done if the school is equipped with enough computers. Most of the primary schools ate deprived of such modern means of learning.
ReplyDeleteI am glad that at least you have managed some personal laptops for the better cause of children. In this digital era, children learn better through the use of technology. So technology is irreplaceable in any form.
I'm pretty sure that you had a great and successful lesson. I could mention this statement just by viewing the photos of your children where they were smiling and searching the information.
ReplyDeleteKeep it up.
Well planned and nice to see that all teachers are now using and integrating ICT in daily teaching and learning in the classroom. Its wonderful lesson madam.
ReplyDeleteThe best part you did here was letting them browse on themself otherwise we limit to this.
ReplyDeleteYes
The fact is we need to be attentive on are they really doing as per the instructions or not otherwise they loose their track.
The best thing to read was even the low achievers were doing good.
So ICT could be this helpful.
i am sure you are thrilled to see the low achievers excelled. What more satisfaction can a teacher have? Great madam.
ReplyDeleteIt is a very good idea to let children browse by themselves instead of teacher doing for them. The only things is we need to be careful when such activities are provided to them.
ReplyDeleteIt is good to see students using the internet for collecting information.
ReplyDeleteChildren were given task to explore themselves whereby they learn to use ICT meaningfully.Children were well monitored and made good use of IT lab.
ReplyDeleteIt was good idea and you did great work. Our young learners catch up quickly with ICT rather than traditional lecture methods. But as you have rightly pointed out that we need to be more vigilance otherwise they may land up in misusing the facilities. Because of development in telecommunication systems in our country our children are already into social media at a very tender age. So in order to aviod such thi gs proper instruction and strict monitoring is must. Keep going with such initiatives.
ReplyDeleteWow! well planned lesson madam. Nice to see that all the teachers are now using and integrating ICT in daily teaching and learning in the classroom, now hereafter our students will be tremendously benefited.
ReplyDeleteGreat..
