ICT integrated in mathematics class
This time I
taught mathematics for class V students with the help of ICT. I have asked the
question of how many types of fractions are there, and then how to change the
improper fraction into mixed numbers and vice versa. Thus for effective
delivery and in the interest of time I have taught how to browse goggle and to
find the video tutorial. I have shown the video tutorial on types of fractions.
It was also reminded that it can be played and paused any time. Children were
so interested to learn.
Next I have
provided them with the laptop in groups and asked to browse goggle and go to
the video tutorial; student followed the instructions and participated fully in
the activity. All the students they did very well.
However, there
were few challenges that for some I have to show video tutorial steps for
several times. ICT integrated lesson has fully replaced the traditional
teaching strategies and kept ourselves fully equipped that contributed
significantly towards the teaching learning processes.
ICT integrated lesson (video tutorial) allows
students to learn from each other and gain important interpersonal skills.
It broadens the
learners’ capacity, helps to develop their curiosity over learning and actively
participates in learning. It helps them to explore their innate capacities
relating with the confronting task, learning by doing and taking decisions and
able to get well socialized with the rest of the members. It provides children
with an avenue to express their views, think, share, reason out and respect
others views to come to the consent.
The role of
teacher here as a facilitator, guide, supervisor and director is very vital and
crucial in promoting and in encouraging it as children at this stage need
tremendous guidance.
It is good that you have made students to use ict. It is an opportunity for our young learners la. So keep going la. Yes, at first it is very difficult for them to get into the right track. By and by they may get use to it. So keep it up la.

ReplyDeleteIn this digital era integrating ICT in our daily teaching and learning has been very crucial as it helps to clear many doubts of the children. Teaching through video tutorial has many advantages as it can be played or paused. Children can watch several times untill they are clear with the topics. As you have mentioned that for some groups you have to teach several times...this things happen especially with the beginner learners and as they get used to it our children will learn faster and better. The thing is we need to keep our children in touch with ICT tools regularly.
ReplyDeleteBesides you also need to provide very clear instructions in the begining of the lesson as how to go about with the ICT tools to get better result.
You used video tutorial where your children need to browse the internet and finding the solution for questions. This method seems to be good because here the children need to focus on what teacher has instructed to them. At the same time they explore through net and learn more or in better ways. Sometimes our teaching may not work to convey the concept so use other alternatives tools. Keep it up and enjoy the teaching through ICT.

Yes its true madam. Exploring internet by students themselves has lots of fun learning and self exploring. At the same time we can easily impart the idea and techniques of ICT with our students in the process of teaching and learning.
